NATO AWACS OF TIGER SQUADRON
03.07.2020

The aviation buffs would not miss an opportunity to see once again on their own eyes an aircraft E-3A Sentry AWACS. And this one will not be an ordinary aircraft but the ship of Flying Squadron 1 which joined the association of NATO tiger units in 1996. At MLD SIAF you will have a chance to admire this extraordinary aircraft during the first weekend of August (3 and 4 Aug) on the static display apron.

E-3A Sentry AWACS has its homebase at the airport of Geilenkirchen, Germany. You will be privileged to have a really close look at this remarkable airborne warning and control system platform on the static display apron.

NAEWF - NATO Airborne Early Warning Force

NATO’s defense planning committee established the NATO Airborne Early Warning Force (NAEWF) in January 1980. Today, NAEWF consists of two operational elements. The NATO E-3A Component at Geilenkirchen, Germany, operating 17 Boeing E-3A Sentry (AWACS) aircraft is sending one of them to Sliač. It is interesting that these aircraft are manned with integrated international crews from 15 nations. You could meet the crew of „our“ Sliač AWACS if you visit Sliač airport on 3 an 4 August.
